Join us at our Sierra Mountains retreat in the woods for a weekend of eclectic dance workshops, afternoon hikes, lively meals, and colorful nightly parties featuring request dances from all around the world, both partner and non-partner, beginning and experienced.

When:
September 10-12, 2010

Where:
Camp Sacramento, off Highway 50, one mile east of Twin Bridges 85 miles from Sacramento, 17 miles from Lake Tahoe

Cost:
$130.00/person includes lodging with 3 meals Saturday and 2 meals Sunday, no meal provided Friday please bring something to share. 

Bring:

Warm clothing,  warm sleeping bag and/or warm bedding, it snowed in 2007and most cabins are not heated. The lodge stage will be available for  a "slumber party" (midnight to 8:00 am). If necessary, the director will leave the heat on in the lodge during night. Camp is three weeks earlier this year than when it snowed so it should be much warmer. 

Towel, wash cloth, toiletries, flash light and comfortable shoes for dancing. Leather soled shoes are best if you have them.

Please bring a snack to share for the Friday and Saturday dance parties.
Optional: something “wild” to wear at the parties.

SATURDAY

Breakfast - 8:00 AM
Dance Workshops - 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM  (3 one hour sessions)
Lunch Break - 12:30 -1:30
Dance Workshops -1:30 PM - 3:30PM  (2 one hour sessions)
Beginner Dance Workshop 3:30-5:00. The fun easy party dances that everyone can do.
Time to hike or do crafts if you want to do something else.
Folk Singing, Toba will be playing your favorite folk song on guitar come sing along. 5:00-6:00PM
Dinner – 6:00 PM
Dance Party 8:00 – 11:00 PM

SUNDAY

Dance Review 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM

PARTIES

The Parties will be all request parties. To simplify programming each camper is requested to submit four requests with their registration.

Request should be of dances that most dancers can do.  If less than 10% of the dancers present get up to dance a dance then it will be stopped and on to the next.

Friday Night Party

All request. Dance to the request you submitted with your registration..

Saturday Night Party

The dances taught during the workshops will be played interspaced  with requests.  There will be no review of the taught dances during the party. If a dance doesn't fly come to the Sunday review.

Drop-ins are welcome at $10.00 per event: Friday Party, Saturday Morning Workshops, Saturday Afternoon Workshops, Saturday Party and Sunday Review.

Meals can be purchased at camp. Meals only; Breakfast $10.00, Lunch $12.00, Dinner $17.00

Facilities

Camp Sacramento is situated in the Sayles Flat area of the El Dorado National Forest. It sits on a 19-acre property owned by the U.S. Forest Service and leased by the City of Sacramento. There are 61 cabins of various sizes scattered throughout the property. These cabins have electricity, but most don't have any outlets other than the light bulb on the ceiling and the porch light. They are rustic yet charming - most of them were built in the 1930's. Some of the cabins are wheelchair-accessible. The cabins don't have running water, but there are centrally located restrooms available complete with electrical outlets and private shower stalls. Camp facilities also include a dining hall, a lodge, a camp store, a camp nurse's office, a softball diamond, a half basketball court, a volleyball court, a campfire pit, arts & crafts areas, ping pong tables, horseshoe pits, and the scenic American River.
